Komeda is a Swedish pop/non mainstream band from Umeå.[1] They were at first called Cosma Komeda, named to pay tribute to writer Vladimir Cosma and jazz performer and author Krzysztof Komeda.[2][3] The band began during the 1980s as post-punk band impacted by groups, for example, Can, Devo, and The Velvet Underground, and by film soundtracks.[3] Their most memorable public appearance was in 1991 as a pit band for a Buster Keaton celebration in their old neighborhood of Umeå.[4] Forming as a group of four of schoolfriends, Komeda comprised of entertainer Lena Karlsson, guitarist Henrik Andersson (in 1994 supplanted by Mattias Norlander from the band Blithe), bassist Marcus Holmberg and Holmberg's sibling Jonas on drums.[2][5][6][7] They expanded in fame, particularly in the US, following visits with Beck and Ben Folds Five and customary MTV appearances. Hesitant to move forever to the US to seek after additional achievement, and lamenting from the deficiency of their folks, the band went into break following 1998's What Makes It Go? in spite of the fact that they kept on making music for theater during this time.[3]
